A name with history
AskeEngineering is a Norwegian one-person studio building focused, practical software for technical work — but the name is older than the company.
Our history
Named for my grandfather
AskeEngineering isn't a new name — it was my grandfather's. He ran an engineering business under it, and around 1980 the local newspaper Østlandsposten profiled him under a headline I've never forgotten.

In Norwegian folktales, Askeladden — the "Ash Lad" — is the youngest, most underestimated brother who solves the problems no one else can, through curiosity, resourcefulness and sheer stubbornness. The nickname was a play on our family name, Aske, and on exactly that reputation: the person you call when something needs figuring out.
I've revived AskeEngineering to honour him — and to carry the same spirit of careful, practical problem-solving into modern engineering and scientific software.

Adam Aske
I'm Adam Aske — I build software for neuroscience and signal processing. That's grown into a small line of open-source tools — NIRSViz, neuropipeline and cofre-spectrum — and now NIRWizard, a desktop application for fNIRS.
